Gym Stars
"A fun and exciting way for children to enjoy gymnastics"
Gym Stars is powered by Total Gymnastics, a dedicated company set up by Olympic Bronze Medallist and Triple World Champion gymnast Beth Tweddle MBE. The aim of Total Gymnastics Gym Stars is to provide the opportunity for children aged 2-8 to learn the basic fundamental gymnastics movements, in a fun and safe environment.
The Total Gymnastics Gym Stars programme follows a rewards scheme compiled by Total Gymnastics. The children will learn the basic gymnastics movements from the following groups of skills;
1. Warm up 2. Flexibility 3. Rolling 4. Jumping 5. Balance 6. Travelling 7. Using apparatus 8. Partner work 9. Sequences 10. Conditioning
The programme is split into two age groups with 70 skills to achieve on each programme.The children will be working in a group of 16 children with two Total Gymnastics trainedcoaches, aiming to build upon the basic movement skills they have previously learnt. Children do not have to have done the age 2-4 programme to enrol on the age 4-8, the basic skills will always be included in the session to emphasise thestructured learning of the skills.
The programme has been designed to enable the children to develop and perfect the 140 skills on the programme progressively and safely. The aim is to help children learn the basic gymnastics movements through fun and games in a structured programme. The basic skills learnt within this programme, will provide the children with the basicfundamental movements that are required in other sports such as swimming and tennis.
